Earlier this week, I had the privilege to be one of 5,000 guests invited to join Prince Charles at a Buckingham Palace garden party held to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Prince's Trust.

The Prince's Trust is a youth charity, supported by NGA in the UK that helps young people aged 13 to 30, who are unemployed or struggling at school, to get into jobs, education and training.

As an HR specialist, at NGA we feel well positioned to offer practical advice and training, in addition to fundraising. Last year we hosted a practical workshop, "The World of Work”.

This workshop provided young people from the community local to our head office in Hemel Hempstead, with CV writing advice, interview technique, and mock interviews, as well as providing an insight into what it is like to work in an office environment. The workshop was a huge success and will be repeated again within the next 12 months.

Sir Ben Kingsley, a trust ambassador for two decades, was at the event and he said: "To meet the people helped by the charity, and hear their uninterrupted confidence and self-worth, which is so beautiful, having had their lives shattered by illness or poverty or abuse, is so inspiring.”

The work of The Prince's Trust means that all young people can have the opportunity to succeed in the workplace.
